Technical Support Frequently Asked Questions Start A Trouble Ticket

Accelerate your technology with Greenleaf3D’s technical support program. At Greenleaf3D, our technical support program is another way we demonstrate our commitment to customizing solutions to fit your ever-changing needs.

We offer three different kinds of technical support plans so you can choose the one that best fits your needs. All plans offer one-hour response time from initial contact. Choose the plan that’s right for you:

TIER 1 - Do you need occasional help getting through a tough problem? The Tier 1 Plan offers a “pay as you go” approach that allows you to get the answers you need, when you need them.

TIER 2 - Get the answers you need, when you need them with the convenience of an annual service agreement. The Tier 2 Plan offers unlimited email and phone support, as well as, free admission to Greenleaf3d’s subscriber only Accelerate educational events.

TIER 3 – The Tier 3 Plan takes a proactive approach to solving your technical issues before they reach a crisis point. You will be assigned a lead application specialist that will get to know your business and schedule monthly phone or web meetings to keep in touch with your projects. Because there is no substitute for the personal touch, our application specialist will arrange to visit your office once quarterly. Your assigned application specialist will understand completely your unique work environment and how best to maximize your mission-critical software applications.

Terms and Conditions:

1. Technical support is defined as any question or problem pertaining to a covered application, unresolved error generated by the software, configuration issues, installation issues, and interface device issues.
2. An incident is defined as a single problem with a single solution.
3. Technical Support Agreement period is one year from the execution date.

Civil FAQ

Q: Can AutoCAD Civil 3D effectively handle design changes for roadway projects?
A: Absolutely! The linking of intelligent design objects is at the core of the Civil 3D model. This allows for the effective evaluation of different design scenarios. Check out the Plan Profile Sections tutorial for a glimpse at how Civil 3D handles horizontal and vertical alignment design changes in a roadway corridor project.

Q: Can I share an AutoCAD Civil 3D drawing with others who are using AutoCAD 2008?
A: Yes. You can share AutoCAD Civil 3D drawings with AutoCAD 2008 users. AutoCAD 2008 users should install the AutoCAD Civil 3D 2008 object enabler, so they can edit Civil 3D labels in the drawing. For instance, they can move the location of a label without affecting the model. When reopened in Civil 3D 2008, the drawing loses no information and all edits are in place. The object enabler is included on the Civil 3D 2008 software installation DVD and can be downloaded from the Autodesk web site. Note: The AutoCAD Civil 3D 2008 object enabler can be installed only on the 2008 family of products.

Q: Can I import AutoCAD Land Desktop project data into AutoCAD Civil 3D?
A: Yes. AutoCAD Civil 3D 2008 software provides a mechanism to import AutoCAD Land Desktop project data including points, surfaces, parcels, alignments, profiles, and pipe runs. And, AutoCAD Land Desktop 2008 includes a utility to convert Civil 3D 2008 model data into Land Desktop project data.

Q: Can AutoCAD Civil 3D 2008 read and write DGN format files for use in MicroStation® software?
A: Yes. AutoCAD Civil 3D 2008 can read and write MicroStation DGN format files. Note that there are two ways DGN files are supported in AutoCAD Civil 3D 2008:
Version 8 (V8) DGN files are supported using the new AutoCAD DGN capabilities. These include importing V8 files, use of V8 files as overlays, and various new import/export controls.
V7 DGN files are supported using the Import/Export utilities in the Map pull-down menu.

Q: What is Autodesk® Vault?

A: Autodesk Vault software, the main component of the Autodesk® Data Management Server, is a server-based application that provides a repository for document and file storage and management. It is integrated with AutoCAD® software as the primary component for storing and managing project data, such as alignments, profiles, surfaces, and pipe networks.

Q: Does AutoCAD Civil 3D contain AutoCAD Map 3D functionality?
A: Yes. However, not all AutoCAD Map commands work fully with the AutoCAD Civil 3D model. For example, the AutoCAD Map 3D Query command cannot use Civil 3D object data, such as an alignment name or parcel number. Other commands such as Drawing Cleanup do not trim or extend Civil 3D objects. Civil 3D objects cannot be exported directly into Oracle® Spatial (they must be exploded first). However, AutoCAD Civil 3D now provides the ability to export data, including Civil 3D points, parcels, alignments, and pipes into SDF format files that can be used to create intelligent maps in Autodesk MapGuide® Enterprise and AutoCAD Map 3D software.

Q: Is there an API (application programming interface) to extend AutoCAD Civil 3D 2008? What data is included?
A: Yes. AutoCAD Civil 3D 2008 software includes the full AutoCAD 2008 and AutoCAD Map 3D 2008 software APIs as well as a broad API for Civil 3D objects and annotation. This API includes the ability to query references and create data such as point groups, surfaces, alignments, profiles, parcels, and the corridor model. Full documentation of the API is included in the product as a help file. Third-party developers around the world are using this API to create new applications that extend Civil 3D.

Building FAQ

Q: Are 3ds Max and Revit Architecture compatible?
A: These two products are fully compatible. 3ds Max is a companion product that allows you to create high-quality visualizations of building information models created in Revit Architecture.

Q: How do I quickly create advanced visualizations of my Revit Architecture models?
A: It's easier than ever to create visualizations of your Revit Architecture building information models with it's companion product, 3ds Max. Some improvements to 3ds Max include increased viewport speed, easy cleanup of screen clutter, and physically accurate light studies.

Q: What is Revit Architecture?

A: Revit technology is Autodesk's platform for building information modeling. Built on the Revit platform, Revit Architecture software is a complete, discipline-specific building design and documentation system supporting all phases of design and construction documentation.

Q: How does Revit Architecture help with sustainable design?
A: Revit Architecture offers a rich set of capabilities that support better sustainable design decision making. Whether you're considering one or several sustainable design options, through the analysis of materials, quantities, energy use, and lighting in a virtual building information model, designers can better create sustainable performance in the real world.

Q: Revit Architecture handles modeling well, but what about conventional drafting and detailing? Do I still need AutoCAD for that?
A: Designers can work entirely in Revit Architecture to generate construction documentation. AutoCAD software is not required.

Q: Can Revit Architecture produce elaborate geometry?
A: Yes, Revit Building Maker is a flexible and responsive conceptual modeling and design environment linked to the Revit Architecture model.
